A female assassin has admitted the murder of delivery driver David Darcy in Ballyfermot in Dublin 2 years ago.
50-year-old Rose Lynch from Oakleigh Wood in Limerick shouted "Mná na hÉireann, tiocfaidh ár lá" after pleading guilty at the Special Criminal Court.
She stood, nodded and replied "guilty" when read the charge of murder shortly after 11am this morning. She has admitted killing Mr. Darcy who was shot dead in his van outside his home in November 2011.
Accused of IRA membership
Lynch is also accused of IRA membership and possession of a shotgun and revolver.
The Special Criminal Court was asked to adjourn sentencing until tomorrow given the seriousness of the charge and the sensitivities surrounding it.
Rose Lynch will be formally sentenced to life then while the Darcy family are expected to make a statement. Members of the public in court reacted "You should be ashamed of yourself".
