For Christmas, Tom Dunne's resident mixologist Oisin Davis, of Great Irish Beverages, made some classic festive cocktails each Thursday evening on the Tom Dunne Show.
Last week, he made a Rum & Port Punch. Here is the simple recipe for the cocktail.
1 measure of a quality dark or aged Rum like Gosling’s Black Seal or Havana Club 7 Year Old
1 measure of ruby port
1 measure of blackcurrant cordial
1 measure of lime juice
A dash of angostura bitters
Nutmeg
Method: Shake all ingredients with some ice in a shaker and strain into a chilled glass. If you’re making a large amount, pour ingredients into a domestic juice container with some ice. Seal it, shake it and strain it with a baking sieve. Garnish each serving with some freshly grated nutmeg.
Oisin says, "“So I thought it might be cool to do a run of Christmas cocktails on the show for the rest of the Yuletide season. That way you can all get stuck into the same Chrimbo beverages that I'll be sharing round with all my pals. This one here is quite a delicious punch and it's very easy to make. You can make a cheeky one for yourself or fill up a whole punch bowl”.
