Gardai are investigating after a fetus was discovered in a housing estate bin in the capital last night.

At around 9pm a resident in Greenfort Close in Clondalkin found the remains in a rubbish bag in a front garden.

Gardai were notified and the fetus has been taken to the City morgue. A post mortem will be carried out later.

The pathologist will establish whether the remains are human before any more enquiries are carried out.

Gardai at Ronanstown are investigating the incident.
