Following last week's historic arrival of President Obama in Cuba, former leader Fidel Castro finally reacted to the event, with a 1,500 word open letter titled "Brother Obama".

President Obama had intended on visiting the nation in the hopes of burying the decades long hostilities between them, and Obama did not meet with the 89-year-old Fidel Castro on the trip but met several times with his 84-year-old brother Raul Castro, the current Cuban president.

"My modest suggestion is that he reflects and doesn't try to develop theories about Cuban politics. Native populations do not exist at all in the minds of Obama. Nor does he say that racial discrimination was swept away by the Revolution; that retirement and salary of all Cubans were enacted by this before Mr. Barack Obama was 10 years old."

"We don't need the empire to give us any presents. Our efforts will be legal and peaceful, because it is our commitment to peace and brotherhood of all human beings living on this planet."

The full letter (in untranslated Spanish) can be found here.
