The final day to send Christmas post to the US is tomorrow, according to An Post.

Customers have been warned to send their overseas mail as early as possible, as this year is ‘like no other’, according to An Post.

The final day to send both standard and express post to the US is tomorrow, December 10th.

Meanwhile, a mail strike in Canada means that deliveries to the country cannot be made at the moment.

For those sending gifts to Europe, their deadline is December 17th - or 18th if using an international courier service.

The final day to send mail to Northern Ireland is the 19th, with the 18th being the deadline for the rest of the UK.

Within Ireland, mail posted between December 20th and 22nd will still arrive before the big day.

Final deliveries for the rest of the world should also be sent off tomorrow - or on December 16th if using an international courier service.

On The Pat Kenny Show, chef Derry Clarke and his wife Sallyanne encouraged people to send handwritten letters to their loved ones this Christmas as a part of An Post’s Send Love campaign.

“I think it’s something nice to receive a card,” said Mr Clarke.

“I mean, someone sat down at their kitchen table, they’ve taken the time to buy the card, buy the stamps - [and written in] their own handwriting, which is unusual to see nowadays – and go out and post it and send it to you.

“The effort it takes to do that instead of sending an email is chalk and cheese.”

Ms Clarke said it was like sending ‘a hug in the post’.
