The Final Gavin and Stacey episode, which aired on Christmas day, racked in more than 12 million viewers.
The finale saw the biggest Christmas day audience since Christmas 2008.
Actor and co-show creator James Corden told the 12 million plus fans that their support means “more than you’ll ever know”.

The sitcom picked up five years on from Nessa's proposal to Smithy - which drew in nearly 12 million viewers in 2019.
Most of the original cast were back with actress Laura Aikman also returning as Sonia.
She kept her part in the special hidden – even from her family.

Entertainment journalist Lucy Jones says the final episode of Gavin and Stacey has been well received.
“Just in case you haven't seen it yet, let's not tell you what happened, but fans are very happy indeed,” she said.
“One of the favourite scenes everyone's talking about is Nessa.
“She smoked and vaped all at the same time.”
A documentary - Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell - charting the history of the series, will air on New Year's Day.
