A large fire has broken out at the Oglesby and Butler plant in Co Carlow.

It is understood six units of the fire service are tackling to the blaze on the O'Brien Road.

There are two of each from stations in Carlow, Bagenalstown and Tullow.

Staff have been evacuated from the building, while there are no reports of any injuries.

Oglesby and Butler manufacture and sell gas-powered hand tools.

Gardaí are urging locals to keeps doors and windows closed, and for motorists to avoid the area.

O'Brien Road is currently closed with diversions in place.
