A fire has broken out at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin City. 

Gardaí received reports of a fire at the iconic hotel shortly before 11am, with Dublin Fire Brigade arriving soon after. 

Dublin Fire Brigade said the fire started on the fifth floor of the building.

Six fire engines attended the scene, with a crane being used to evacuate people on higher floors. 

Actor Henry Winkler, known for playing 'The Fonz' on Happy Days, was one of the guests staying at the Shelbourne overnight ahead of a performance this evening.

Gardaí said no injuries have been reported and staff and guests were evacuated. 

Dublin Fire Brigade said the fire is now under control and staff have been allowed to return inside.

Kildare Street and St Stephen's Green North are closed as emergency services remain at the scene.
