Ireland welcomed its first baby born in 2024 just four minutes into the New Year.

Baby Arlo Robert Emmet was delivered at Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital last night, weighing in at 3.4kg.

His parents Nicole and Robert-Emmet are from Ashbourne in County Meath.

Outside Dublin, baby Amelia Kearney was delivered at Letterkenny Hospital in Donegal at 12.13am last night.

She was born to parents Danielle and Andrew and weighed 3.65kg.

At Cork Maternity Hospital, Sean Liam O’Halloran was delivered at 1.02am.

He was born to parents Catherine and Brian from Mullinahone, Tipperary, and weighed 4.2kg.
