Average first-time buyer and home mover mortgage values have reached their highest levels since 2003, according to the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland.

First-time buyer properties have risen by 88 thousand euro in 5 years, according to the latest report from the Federation.

CEO Brian Hayes has said that house prices are going up higher outside the capital.

“65% of first-time buyer mortgages are for second hand homes,” he said.

“It’s showing house price inflation across the country - but interestingly, it’s showing a larger degree of house price inflation outside of the main Dublin area.

“That shows that we are being to see some improvement of take up of additional homes in regions outside of Dublin.”

The report shows the value of first-time buyer properties increased to 360 thousand euro.
