Five people remain in garda custody in Co Kerry this morning following an armed robbery on a post office.

It happened on Monday when a group of men wearing boiler suits and balaclavas entered Tarbert Post Office near Listowel.

They were brandishing a pistol and baseball bat.

They held up two members of staff, before making off with a small amount of cash.

Following searches in the Listowel area yesterday, three men - all aged in their 20s - were arrested and taken to Listowel, Tralee and Killarney garda stations for questioning.

In follow up searches, a man in his 20s and another in his late teens were arrested and taken to Killarney and Ballybunion garda station.
