Five people with suspected links to dissident republicans are due in court in Scotland today charged with terrorism offences. The four men and woman are expected to appear in court in Glasgow later today.
They have been questioned under the Terrorism Act of 2000 since last Wednesday at a high security unit.
Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Ruaraidh Nicolson confirmed the arrests "at several locations" on suspicion of committing various offences.
The operation also involved the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and the UK security service MI5.
The investigation has been focused on the activities of individuals "sympathetic to dissident Republicanism but who are not affiliated to any specific group" Police Scotland say.
Police Scotland has led the operation, which has involved a number of officers including specialist units.
