Five men have been arrested on suspicion of committing burglary after gardaí intercepted a car in Co Carlow.
A high-powered car was seized after gardaí intercepted the vehicle at Black Bog Road in Carlow yesterday.
The car, which had a false registration, was stopped as part of Operation Thor by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Emergency Response Unit and Security and Intelligence Section.
Gardaí also recovered property from the car which they believe was the proceeds of a burglary which was committed a short time earlier.
The five occupants of the car were subsequently arrested on suspicion of committing burglary and are currently detained in garda stations in Kilkenny and Carlow.
They have been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
