Five people are due in court in Co Cork this morning, charged in connection with incidents of violent disorder, during which Gardai came under attack.
Two garda patrol cars were rammed and a number of officers came under attack.
Shortly after midnight yesterday morning, Gardai stopped a car near Killeagh and were attacked by the occupants.
A garda sergeant was hit on the head with a rock and sustained a serious facial injury - he was taken to Cork University Hospital. His colleague suffered cuts when he was hit with stones.
The car was pursued by another garda patrol, which was also rammed, to Dungourney - where gardai again came under attack.
Gardai then went to an address at Ballymartin, Dungourney, and following another incident, where a number of officers came under attack, five people were arrested.
They're four men, aged 18, 22, 35 and 46 and a 27 year old woman.
A number of weapons, a car and cash were seized.
All five are due to appear before Mallow District Court this morning, charged in connection with these incidents.
