Galway City Council is issuing a warning regarding the potential for flooding this week from Tuesday 7th October up to and including Friday 10th October.

Beginning on Tuesday evening at high tide just before 5.00pm and continuing around the high tides twice a day until Friday evening at around 7.00pm, there is a danger of over-topping in the Spanish Arch area and along the Promenade in Salthill.

The areas most likely to be affected are along the Promenade, Seapoint Promenade in Salthill, Grattan Road and at Fishmarket, Spanish Arch.

The public is advised to have regard for their safety, particularly at High Tide in these areas. A safety barrier is being installed along Fishmarket Quay at the Spanish Arch and sandbags will be made available to protect properties in the area.

Meanwhile, the gale warning issued by Met Éireann for today has been lifted.
