A West Ham footballer has apologised after being filmed kicking and slapping his pet cat.
Kurt Zouma - whose brother is thought to have posted the video on Snapchat - says the animal is unhurt.
In a video obtained by The Sun newspaper, the 27-year-old defender is seen picking up the cat before dropping it and booting it into the air across the kitchen.
Another clip shows him slapping the cat in the face.
In a statement, Mr Zouma said: "I want to apologise for my actions. There are no excuses for my behaviour, which I sincerely regret.
"I also want to say how deeply sorry I am to anyone who was upset by the video. I would like to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy.
"They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behaviour was an isolated incident that will not happen again."
West Ham, meanwhile, said it "unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that has circulated".
The club says it has spoken to Kurt and will now be dealing with the matter internally.
