The number of people in Dublin city yesterday was 40% higher than last Monday.
Dublin Town has footfall counters across the city which recorded more than 57,000 people yesterday.
That was around 16,000 higher than the previous Monday.
Normally we’d be delighted to see footfall on our cameras up by 40% on the previous week but under #Covid19Ireland a footfall of 57.5k on a Monday may not be the right thing. The sooner we get on top of this the sooner phased lifting of restrictions can start. Please #StayHome

Richard Guiney, CEO of Dublin Town, explained that while the number of people is well below an average day, there has been a notable jump compared to last week.
He said: "It's consistent with some of the concerns that have been raised that people are venturing out more and being a bit more lax about the restrictions.
"In the context of where the city would normally be - with about 300,000 people visiting on a normal basis - the numbers are down... but they're still up on the previous week.
"The key thing is the sooner we get the virus under control, the sooner that organised and phased lifting of the restrictions can actually happen."
He called on people to stay safe and stay home - saying it will be better for everyone if we get through the current crisis as soon as possible.
