Garda forensics experts have identified the human remains found in county Meath yesterday as that of a 37 year-old man from the Blanchardstown area.

However, investigating officers will not be releasing the man's name until his family have been notified.

The initial discovery of a limb was made by a passerby yesterday afternoon at The Mayne in Clonee and it was taken to Navan hospital for DNA and fingerprint testing.

Searches have been ongoing throughout the day where gardai discovered further human remains.

The area has been secured and a post mortem is underway.

Gardai say they are awaiting the results of the post mortem before they can establish the course of their investigation.

Superintendent Dave Taylor from Garda Press Office says an incident room has been established and they are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
