The former chairman of Anglo Irish Bank Sean FitzPatrick is due back in court where it is expected he will be sent forward for trial following an investigation into irregularities at the bank.
The 64-year-old of Whitshed Road in Greystones is accused of providing unlawful financial assistance to a group of investors so they could buy shares in the bank.
The 16 charges allege that in 2008 Mr. FitzPatrick provided unlawful financial assistance to members of the Quinn family and the so-called ‘Maple 10′ of Irish investors to enable them to buy shares in Anglo Irish Bank.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
The former Anglo chairman is on bail.
It is expected he will be served with the book of evidence today and sent forward for trial.
Also due to appear in court again are former Anglo directors Willie McAteer and Patrick Whelan who have been charged with the same 16 offences under the Companies Acts.
