Representatives from the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC), its former board and the Health Service Executive (HSE) appearED before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today.
The Committee met to resume its consideration of top-up payments to executives.
It has been confirmed that the Board of the CRC was ordered to resign last December by the Health Service Executive (HSE) or face cuts in funding.
The financing and pay rates of the clinic are again being discussed at the PAC.
A report from an interim administrator showed serious governance issues at the CRC, including over-payments to former CEO Paul Kiely and the payment of salaries in a way designed to avoid public sector pay cuts.
It concluded that the charity arm 'Friends and Supporters of the CRC' existed solely to hide funding from the HSE.
It said that the current functions of the group should be transferred to the CRC Board as soon as possible and, ultimately, the company should be wound up.
Former Chairman of the CRC Hamilton Goulding says the HSE threatened to withdraw funding.
