A former Fine Gael leader says there are dangers in the decision Lucinda Creighton is taking in establishing a new political party.

Ms Creighton says everyone in Ireland will be able to vote for a candidate from her new party at the next election.

The party has yet to be named and will be officially launched in eight weeks.

Meanwhile speculation mounts about whether Independent TD, Shane Ross, will form his own political party.

Speaking to Kfm, Alan Dukes says the tact Deputy Creighton is taking "has a lot of dangers".

And he believes that a Dáil with up to three "loose alliances" will be unpredictable.

Mr Dukes says it is unclear what this announcement will bring about.
