Former Fianna Fail Cork city councillor, Gary O'Flynn, has appeared in court charged with fraud offences.

Mr O'Flynn - who has an address in Whitechurch, Co Cork - was arrested in the city earlier this morning.

He was taken to Anglesea Street garda station and formally charged.

He appeared before a sitting of Cork District Court, where he was charged with nine offences.

He was remanded on bail and will appear in court again on February 18th.
