A former priest who received a 16 year prison sentence for the sexual abuse of 9 boys in the 70s and 80s has admitted abusing 2 other boys.

Tony Walsh, formerly of North Circular Road will be sentenced for those offences today.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard how Walsh, who was known as the 'Singing Priest', featured in the 2009 Murphy report into clerical sex abuse.

He pleaded guilty to 2 counts of indecent assault on January 1st and April 4th 1979.

The court was told that the first victim, aged 11, was abused after Walsh caught him eating sweets outside the church before taking Holy Communion.

The abuse only came to light in 2008 after the victim's father had died.

The second victim, who was around the same age, was abused on Good Friday 1979 after he was invited to travel in the priest's BMW.

The assault took place at the parochial house and afterwards, Walsh took the boy to a nearby hotel and bought him a drink and a fry-up.

His defence barrister told the court yesterday that his client had apologised to his victims and had admitted his guilt at an early stage.

He'll be sentenced before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.
