The former State pathologist Professor John Harbison has died.
Professor Harbison, who was in his 80s, died peacefully last night.
He worked in the role for nearly 30 years between 1974 and 2003.

He was involved in a number of high-profile cases including the Kerry babies and the Sophie Toscan du Plantier case.
The doctor, who was born in Dublin, was the State's first forensic pathologist after being appointed to the role in 1974.
Professor Harbison is survived by his wife Kathleen, children Isobel and Austin, brother Peter and grandchildren.
