Fórsa is holding a meeting this morning to re-address their campaign for pay and pension rights for school secretaries and caretakers.
While secretaries and caretakers won the right to be included in the Department of Education's payroll in 2021, they're still being denied access to the pension scheme.
Spokesperson for the trade union Andy Pike says the system is unfair.
“School secretaries and caretakers can work for 30 or 40 years in a school in any of our communities, but retire with no security of income for their old age,” he said.
“It's a manifestly unfair situation when their colleagues in the same school, because they're a teacher or an SNA, are given access to the public service pension scheme that school secretaries and caretakers are not.”
Fórsa has described the exclusion of these departments as an injustice.
