If you've ever wanted to name a baby tapir - and who hasn't? - this is your big chance.
Fota Wildlife Park is looking for the public to help them name their newest arrival - a three-week-old tapir, the first son of parents Maya and Basil - the first taper birth in Fota since 2006.
To gain public interest in the Brazilian Tapirs whose population has been decreasing in the wild, the park has decided to run a competition to name him.
The public can suggest a name for the Tapir calf via the park's website and the winning suggestion will win a behind-the-scenes visit with the Head Warden at the wildlife park.
A relative of the primate horse and Rhinoceros, the Brazilian Tapir is one of four species of Tapir in the world. It can weigh up to 250 kg, measure two metres in length and has a long, flexible snout that helps collect food.
The Brazilian Tapir is listed as Vulnerable because its population continues to decrease in the face of habitat destruction, demand for its meat, valuable hide and its slow reproduction rates.
