Four males have been arrested following a number of thefts from businesses in County Cavan and County Monaghan.

Gardaí attached to the Divisional Armed Support Unit carried out a search on a vehicle in Cavan town yesterday, shortly before eight o'clock in the evening.

With assistance from Gardaí in Cavan Community Engagement and Crime Units, the occupants of the car, four males in their late teens, were arrested.

A number of items were recovered from the vehicle, which had been previously been stolen in Dublin 22.

Three of the four arrested males have been released pending referral to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.

The fourth juvenile male arrested in connection with this investigation has since been charged and appeared before a special sitting of Cavan District Juvenile Court on Friday 15th of March.

Investigations are ongoing.
