Four people have been arrested by Gardaí investigating a suspected arson attack on a Galway hotel in December.
The Ross Lake Hotel in Rosscahill was due to house up to 70 asylum seekers before the fire broke out on the night of Saturday December 16th.
Protesters objecting to the plan had formed a blockade around the hotel in the days running up to the fire.
Gardaí opened an investigation into a "criminal damage incident" the morning after.
This morning, Gardaí investigating the fire arrested two men and two women.
The men, aged in their 40s and 50s, were arrested for alleged offences contrary to the Criminal Damage Act.
The women, aged in their 40s and 50s, were arrested for alleged offences contrary to the Offences Against the State Act.
All four are being held at a Garda Station in the North Western Region.
The Garda investigation is ongoing.
