Four people, including an armed suspect, are dead in the latest shooting in the US.

Police were alerted after gun fire was heard at a house in Aurora, Colorado, at around 3 o'clock this morning.

Investigators said three victims, all of them adults, appeared to have been killed before officers arrived.

It's believed the suspect shot at officers but was killed shortly afterwards - it's still unclear if officers shot the suspect or if he shot himself.

This is the second fatal shooting in a matter of months in the town - in July 2012, 12 people were shot dead and 58 others injured during a midnight screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises.
