A fourth person has been arrested in Northern Ireland in connection with the 'brutal killing' of a man in Belfast yesterday.

The shooting happened in broad daylight at Etna Drive in north Belfast shortly before midday yesterday.

The man who was shot is thought to be a Dublin criminal who had been told by gardaí that his life was in danger.

He is believed to be a suspect in the killing of Drogheda teenager Keane Mulready Woods - the 17-year-old who was abducted and killed earlier this year.

Four males arrested in connection with the shooting are now being held by the PSNI in Belfast.

Investigations Editor with The Sunday World, Nicola Tallant, told Newstalk Breakfast: "This happened at [around midday] yesterday afternoon, during the daytime... loads of people around.

"He appears to have been shot and collapsed in the garden of a house."

She said the man appears to have been "intent on collecting a drug debt" in Belfast, and a shoot-out followed.

The PSNI, meanwhile, has described the shooting as a 'brutal killing'.

Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy said: "I believe the man was shot a number of times at close range.

"I am astounded by the recklessness of the killer or killers.

"Not only did they carry out this callous murder leaving a family experiencing their worst nightmare, but they did not care that children and other members of this North Belfast community were placed at risk."
