Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald says that progress is being made on talks to form a new Government.
Coalition talks are set to resume this morning, despite a number of deputies ruling themselves out of discussions.
Minister Fitzgerald believes progress is being made but she conceded that even if a minority Government is formed, it may not last long:
“It remains to be seen whether the Irish political system is capable and willing to do that but it would certainly require quite a lot of change because it is different to what we’ve experienced before with majority Government,” said Deputy Fitzgerald.
“There will be a lot of changes involved and we have to see if the political system can deal with that, otherwise it will be back to an election”.
