"Formation" marks the first single from a new album campaign, so now is as good a time as any to look back over the career of the mighty Knowles.
Anyone looking for Destiny's Child singles will be disappointed, while some others - such as her additions to the soundtracks of The Fighting Temptations or Fifty Shades Of Grey - have also been left off the list.
With that in mind, there's still THIRTY SEVEN other singles with Beyonce as the lead performer, so here's our rankings. And we're fully prepared for the onslaught of disagreements.
37. CHECK ON IT featuring Slim Thug
The tinny beat the entire song is built around is actually very annoying, Slim Thug's rap is lazy and unnecessary, and the chorus isn't actually much fun to sing along to.
36. RING OFF
The other song from the special edition of Beyonce's self-titled, fifth album is the one you've already forgotten exists.
35. LOVE ON TOP
This is Beyonce love song with absolutely no edge to it, spread so thin with a butter knife that it's actually kind of cloying.
34. RING THE ALARM
Beyonce goes full on Fatal Attraction here, screaming her head off because her man might have found a new woman. It's not a great look on her, to be honest.
33. COUNTDOWN
Sounds like four or five songs playing at once, none of which are actually all that great.
32. I CARE
We just listened to it and we've already forgotten what it sounds like...
31. BROKEN-HEARTED GIRL
Normally Beyonce isn't one for cliches, but this is the song you'd imagine playing over a montage of the sad break-up scene in a bad rom-com.
30. RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS)
The only song in Beyonce's CV where the production almost completely wipes her off the face of her own song. This feels like a Major Lazer song, that just happens to have some Beyonce vocals on it, and not the other way around.
29. BEST THING I NEVER HAD
Sounds like a watered down version of "Irreplaceable". Lazy.
28. PRETTY HURTS
It's not that it's a bad song, and the message is sound... it's just a little too on the nose. Written by Sia, who is usually much more subtle than this.
27. VIDEO PHONE featuring Lady Gaga
The original version is actually pretty good, but the single version brought on Lady Gaga - with Beyonce repaying the favour on Gaga's "Telephone" - but the additional effects on the vocals and weird, pointless breakdown section actually makes the song much worst.
26. WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME
A weird mix of angry and desperate, Beyonce can be all things to all people, but one thing we never think she's ever, ever be is desperate. Is there anyone in the world that doesn't love Beyonce? Is this really an issue she has in her life?? We doubt it.
25. SWEET DREAMS
It sounds like Beyonce trying to sing a song Rihanna would sing. Which isn't a compliment.
24. EGO
Having an ego is fine. Loving someone for their "huge ego" is either (A) a bad metaphor, or (B) not actually a good idea. Big egos are bad, you guys.
23. ME, MYSELF AND I
Back when it was released initially, this was one of the best songs on Beyonce's first album. But it feels like the one song that has aged the worst in the years since then.
22. BEAUTIFUL LIAR featuring Shakira
It feels like this song might have been better if it had've just been Shakira by herself, mainly because the lyrics already sound like they were originally written in Spanish and clumsily translated into English afterwards.
21. DEJA VU featuring Jay-Z
After "Crazy In Love", this felt like a bit of a disappointment. While it's nowhere near being a bad song, the chorus never quite goes off the way the verses build us up to believe they will.
20. IF I WERE A BOY
A ballad about sexism. Beyonce's vocals are incredible, but it just kinda sounds like she's having a bit of a moan.
19. GREEN LIGHT
Fun, but sounds like a million other songs produced by Pharrell and/or The Neptunes around that time.
18. BABY BOY featuring Sean Paul
Remember when Sean Paul was a thing?? LOL. Anyways, this is fine for a bit of a boogie, but compared to some of the other rump-shakers Bey has released, it's very middle of the road.
17. XO
If there is a such a thing as "too cute", and if that can be a bad thing, then this song has that problem.
16. PARTY featuring Andre 3000
Beyonce comes in third behind the Slick Rick sample and Andre 3000's killer rap verse, and Beyonce really shouldn't be runner up to anyone, at any time, ever.
15. NAUGHTY GIRL
Working off the beat of Donna Summer's "Love To Love You Baby", this song is pretty fun, but if anything, it just makes you want to listen to the original instead.
14. 7/11
This feels like the step towards the direction that ended up with "Formation", the hard-as-nails hip-hop influence mixed with Beyonce firing her swagger on all cylinders.
13. FLAWLESS featuring Nicki Minaj
"I woke up like this." Why is it that when Beyonce sings about being perfect, we don't seem to mind that her ego could consume us all? Is it because she somehow manages to seem grounded and real while also being a god-damned Goddess? Ah, the mystery that is Beyonce...
12. END OF TIME
The Fela Kuti vibes on this means it's impossible not to dance to. Feels like it was scientifically engineered to soundtrack your next Zumba class.
11. GET ME BODIED
This is Beyonce having fun in the club, all hand-claps and winks across the bar. Just pure dancehall joy.
10. DIVA
Working from the same vocal-tic repetition as Lil' Wayne's "A Milli", the refrain of "I'mma-a-Divaaaaa" is a shot of pure confidence, as Beyonce re-appropriates the negative connotations of the word and owns her demanding and in-demand personality.
9. PARTITION
The sexiest Beyonce song of them all. End of.
8. HALO
It sometimes feels like Beyonce's "biggest" song - she really belts out that chorus long and loud - and it would be higher if it weren't for the fact that it sometimes sounds a little bit too much like Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" or Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone".
7. WORK IT OUT
Beyonce's first solo single was for an Austin Powers movie, and the 70's infused, horn-fuelled funkathon is still influencing pop music today - see: Jessie J's "Bang Bang", Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk", Fleur East's "Sax".
6. DRUNK IN LOVE featuring Jay-Z
Has there ever been a more perfect description of the intoxicating effects of being in love than this? No. No there hasn't.
5. IRREPLACEABLE
"To the left, to the left..." Still used in day-to-day conversation to this day, forever proving it's effect on society.
4. LISTEN
This is that song that every X-Factor hopeful wants to be able to sing well, and 99.999999999% of them can't.
3. FORMATION
The increased hip-hop leaning sound may have scared away some of her poppier fans, but after the powerful forays into feminism and sexuality in her Beyonce album, here she's taking aim at racism, politics and police brutality. Queen Bey just showed her teeth.
2. CRAZY IN LOVE featuring Jay-Z
That horn section still gets those hips shaking, this was the song that Beyonce put out to let us know she was no longer just a Destiny's Child, she was a force to reckoned with. Still played at just about every wedding ever.
1. SINGLE LADIES (PUT A RING ON IT)
A song about getting engaged, this is sung by every man, woman and child the second they hear that weird techno-bleep kick on and the entire rest of the song is built around. Plus just about everyone gives that little hand dance a go. One of those pop songs that only comes along once every few years that seems to never age, no matter how old it is.
