The funeral is underway for the father and daughter found dead near their West Cork home on Wednesday.
50-year-old Martin McCarthy and 3-year-old Clarissa will be laid to rest in the one coffin after requiem mass this afternoon.
It will take place at the church of St. Mary in Ballydehob.
Opening the homily the chief celebrant Fr. Alan O'Leary told the large congregation that no-one "We never know what goes on in a persons head. If we did, maybe we wouldn't be here today".
Gardai in Cork say they are treating the deaths as a "tragic incident".
The bodies were recovered from the sea near their home in west Cork on Wednesday morning. They had been reported missing just before midnight.
