This week, ESOF attracted scientists and science fans from all around the planet to Dublin. This electric five-day event at the Convention Centre is all about opening science up to a broader audience and it is doing so with style. It’s also making Dublin a safe city to be a science nerd! To celebrate, we will be bringing you a special ESOF edition of Futureproof tomorrow at 6pm. We’ll be talking to superstar string theorist and author of The Elegant Universe Brian Greene, mathematician Simony Chair of Public Understanding of Science at Oxford and star of BBC2′s Maestro series Marcus du Sautoy, forward-looking Intel futurist Brian David Johnson, and iconic astrophysicist celebrated for her discoveries of radio pulsars Jocelyn Bell Burnell (pictured – photograph: BBC).
We’ll also be revealing what happened in our very own Science in the City event, as part of the Dublin City of Science 2012 festival to celebrate ESOF coming to Dublin. href="http://www.dublinscience2012.ie/2012/07/futureproof-the-big-experiment/" target="_blank">Futureproof: Interference is part of our Big Experiment series, where we take to the streets to experiment on you, the unsuspecting public (with your consent, of course!). Futureproof: Interference happens TODAY in Meeting House Square (two shows: 4:15 and 5:15 pm). It’s free, and will feature live, totally safe, and vaguely ethical psychological experiments as well as an exclusive live performance by href="http://thisclubmusic.com/" target="_blank">This Club.
