One GAA fan has said the organisation is 'making a stick to beat themselves with' by not accepting screenshots of tickets.

Those attending GAA fixtures this weekend are being warned they will no longer be able to use screenshot images of digital tickets to attend Croke Park.

Tickets must instead be downloaded onto a mobile device or printed in advance.

Tony from Monaghan told Lunchtime Live the organisation shouldn't take its fans for granted.

"Do not assume everyone has a printer and knows how to use Google Wallet and all that stuff," he said.

"I do because I worked in IT most of my life, but there are many people that don't.

"You need to make it easy for people to go to matches.

"If you make it more difficult, then you will lose attendance numbers.

"The GAA are missing out here, they're making a stick to beat themselves with".

Tony said an incentive should be put in place, with points given for Championship matches when people attend League matches presenting tickets the way they should.

"Coax people [with a] carrot, not stick," he added.

'None of Croke Park's business'

Noel is a season ticket holder and told the show it will impact him.

"What was wrong with the system as it was [by] screenshotting?" he said.

"Once you had a barcode and you could transfer that to somebody else by screenshotting it and sending it on.

"I know not everybody can do that, but more people have somebody that will do it for them.

"We were getting by with that kind of a system to the best of my knowledge".

Noel said it means he won't be able to give other people tickets as easily.

"In the event that I can't go to match for any particular reason, I could transfer that ticket to somebody that would then go to the match," he said.

"What I buy a season ticket from Croke Park, I enter into a contract with the GAA that I pay them the money, they give me the ticket.

"Once I get the ticket, it's none of Croke Park's business what I do with that ticket - or shouldn't be.

"I'm going to be hamstrung now in relation to what I can do with that ticket," he added.

The GAA has included instructions on how to download tickets.
