There's no better way to see the city than by helicopter.

A group of 12 journalists was invited by Canon Ireland to shoot the city from a bird's eye view using their latest kit and I lucky enough to be one of them.

After a quick safety lesson in riding shotgun with a helicopter pilot (short version: DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING), we had 30 minutes to see Dublin in all its glory on a beautiful summer's day.

We took off from Dublin Airport Manor and had to take the long way around out west and then down the Liffey to Dublin city because of air traffic, but it allowed us to see some beautiful textures in the fields below.

We passed over Aras an Uachtarain, Phoenix Park, Croker and the Aviva and up to Killiney hill in just a half hour round-trip.

It helped that we were travelling at approximately 150mph ground-speed and without any red lights, of course. I was shooting with the new 5DS which has an incredible 50 megapixel sensor with a wide angle lens (11-24 f4L for the geeks) and the detail and resolution I got was incredible, especially considering the conditions.

I also shot with a F4.5 100-400L Zoom lens on my own 6d and was able to read tombstones from 1500ft with helicopter shake.

See the shots below and browse the new Canon range at www.canon.ie. #comeandsee
