With the face-stuffing of Christmas just around the corner, a poignant new set of photographs captures the inequality between the rich and the poor around the world.
Created by photographer Henry Hargreaves and food-stylist Caitlin Levin, the Power Hungry blog originally began as a look at the foods some of the world’s most prominent dictators eat, but is now a reflection on how hunger and starvation can be used as a tool by those in power to maintain the class system.
Power Hungry delves into the dinners of the richest and poorest members of society, even taking in different historical periods, pitting the two meals on opposite sides of the same table.
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Hargreaves says, “We want people to literally and figuratively sit down and look across a table to see the glaring disparities between the ‘haves and have nots.’”
"On one side of the table, you have a feast, on the other, a famine."
