The annual Garda Memorial day, for members of An Garda Síochána killed in the line of duty, takes place today.
This year’s memorial includes the presentation of a remembrance medal to the family of Garda Adrian Donohoe.
Detective Donohoe was shot dead during the robbery of a credit union in Co Louth in January.
Caroline Donohoe, who is also a Garda, will attend the commemoration at Dublin Castle with her two young children today. She will receive the special medal from the Garda Commissioner and the Minister for Justice.
Detective Donohoe was the first member of the force to be shot and killed on duty since 1996. He was given an official state funeral, which was attended by thousands of Gardai from across the country.
