A member of An Garda Siochana has been arrested in connection with the theft of a sum of money from Balbriggan garda station.
The man in his mid thirties was arrested shortly before 11 o'clock this morning and is being detained a Dublin city Garda station.
It follows an investigation into the theft of nine thousand euro from the north Dublin garda station in January.
The theft occurred shortly after 26 thousand was recovered following the attempted robbery of a shop in Lusk on January 19th.
Three men were caught making off with the money and were arrested by gardaí.
The stolen money was kept at Balbriggan garda station, but when gardaí subsequently attempted to return the money to its owner - nine thousand euro was missing.
A Detective Superintendent was tasked with investigating the disappearance.
