A Garda has been suspended from duty after allegedly stealing money at a Garda station.

The alleged incident happened at a station in the south of the country yesterday.

The officer is in his 20s and is still in his two-year probationary period.

He was arrested and questioned at a different Garda station.

He has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Garda spokesperson said the investigation is still ongoing.
