The Garda Representative Association has said an attack on two Gardaí in Dublin is a "stark reminder" of the dangers their members face on a daily basis.
One of the Gardaí has received injuries to his arm, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.
A man in his 20s has been charged in connection with an investigation into the incident, and is due before Cloverhill District Court in Dublin on Tuesday, March 11th.
The GRA president Mark O'Meara has said he wishes their colleague a speedy recovery after being hospitalised following 'an extremely difficult situation' in Dublin's Abbey Street yesterday lunchtime.
Another member also received injuries in the attack and Mr O'Meara said the Association's thoughts are with them both, and with their families.
He has praised his colleagues on their bravery and actions - and stresses there is never a reason or excuse for attacks and assaults on Gardaí - adding that the incident is a stark reminder of the dangers facing their members on a daily basis.
