A member of An Garda Síochána is in a critical condition after a road traffic collision on the N25 at the Youghal bypass in Cork. 

The accident, which took place yesterday evening, means the bypass on the N25 will be closed until midday to allow a Garda forensic collision investigation to be carried out. 

Those travelling to Cork city from the Wexford direction are being asked to use the N72 Dungarvan to Fermoy Road instead; local traffic will be redirected through Youghal town. 

Any witnesses - especially those with dashcam footage - are being encouraged to contact Gardaí.
