The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is recruiting for a new deputy director of operations.
The process will be handled by the Public Appointments Service on behalf of GSOC.
It has launched a recruitment campaign for the senior role.
GSOC said it identified the need for a second position of deputy director of operations in its business case, submitted in early 2018.
Permission for the post - along with all other positions GSOC sought - was given by Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in November.
The successful candidate will need prior senior level experience in a law enforcement or investigative agency, and "significant experience of working in the management and investigation of serious crime".
The successful candidate will be based in GSOC headquarters at Abbey Street in Dublin city centre.
The closing date for applicants is 3.00pm on Thursday April 25th.
GSOC directly and independently investigates complaints against members of An Garda Síochána.
It may investigate any practice, policy or procedure of the Gardaí - with a view to reducing the incidence of related complaints.
