Gardaí in Dublin are being praised for rescuing a man from the water in Howth Harbour in the early hours of this morning.
Local officers were the first on the scene after a car entered the water at about 2am.
A man in the car had managed to get out before it sank and gardaí successfully removed him from the water and brought him to safety.
Fire Brigade paramedics treated him at the scene and transferred him to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance, but he was not seriously injured.
Coastguard officials have commended the gardaí for their quick actions.
The coastguard unit from Howth and the Howth RNLI inshore lifeboat were also tasked during the incident.
