Gardai investigating the murder of 23-year-old Dean Fitzpatrick have released a man they were questioning without charge. The older brother of missing teenager Amy Fitzpatrick died after being stabbed at an apartment on the Malahide Road in Dublin at the weekend.
Gardai arrested a man in his 40s yesterday afternoon in connection with their investigation. He was taken in for questioning after the 23-year-old died from a single stab wound on Saturday night.
The attack is believed to have happened inside an apartment at Burnell Square at Northern Cross on the Malahide road.
Dean managed to make his way out of the complex before collapsing on the street. He later died in hospital from his injury.
After being questioned right through the night detectives have decided to release the suspect without charge.
A file will now be sent to the DPP and Gardai have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
This weekend, Amy's family marked International Missing Children’s Day on the same day that her younger brother made his first holy communion.
