The Justice Minister says the Garda representative bodies have lost their way and lost sight of the purpose for which they were formed.
Alan Shatter made the remarks during his address at the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors annual conference in Sligo - where he was greeted with silence.
He says the AGSI and the Garda Representative Association are doing a disservice to members of the force by the approach being taken over the revised Croke Park deal.
Minister Shatter says he believes Gardai would've been better served if the two associations - who pulled out of the pay talks - remained in the negotiations process:
