A Garda has been treated in hospital after being sprayed in the face with suspected ammonia in Dublin.
It happened just before 9pm on Thursday in the Basin Street area when officers conducting patrols asked a vehicle to stop and speak with two people.
During the encounter, the driver of the vehicle assaulted one of the Gardaí.
Both of the people who were in the car then fled on foot.
The car had been reported stolen earlier this month in the Dublin area and was removed from the scene for forensic and technical examination.
A woman aged in her 30s was subsequently arrested and is being detained at a city centre Garda station.
The injured Garda, a man in his 20s who is based in Kilmainham, received medical attention.
His injuries are not life-threatening and Garda welfare services have been made available.
The investigation is ongoing.
