A Dundrum-based garda found guilty of insurance fraud will have to wait until October to learn his fate.
Quinn Direct gave Paul Fogarty just over €10,000 after he falsely claimed his car was stolen in June 2009.
He was arrested after it was revealed that he had crashed the car on the M50 in January 2008.
The man (28), who has been suspended from the force, was due to be sentenced today but the matter has been adjourned.
He broke down when the jury found him guilty last month.
He then engaged the services of Christopher Kelly - a self-confessed dodgy car dealer - who could not fix it to his satisfaction.
On June 12th 2009 Fogarty made a false claim to Quinn Direct which stated that the car had been stolen from outside his grandmother's house. The insurance company handed over €10,000 in compensation.
During the trial both Christopher and Patrick Kelly gave evidence of being harassed by garda Fogarty over the high-performance car.
But the jury was not convinced and found him not guilty on these charges, a verdict which also reduced him to tears.
Fogarty was suspended from the force pending the outcome of this case, but won't now learn his fate until October.
