It has been confirmed that Garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe has regained access to the Garda Pulse computer system.

A statement from the Garda Press Office said Sergeant McCabe was told of the decision last night.

Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald was also informed by the interim Garda Commissioner that following a review, Sergeant McCabe's access to the Pulse system was to being restored immediately.

Former Minister for Justice Alan Shatter resigned on Wednesday ahead of yesterday's publication of the Guerin Report.

The report examined allegations by Sergeant McCabe that serious crimes had not been properly investigated by Gardaí.
