Gardaí are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a young girl in north Dublin.

The alleged incident is believed to have taken place on Wednesday evening in the Balbriggan area.

No arrests have yet been made - but gardaí have confirmed they are investigating.

It is understood the victim of the alleged attack is 14 years of age.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have information, to contact Balbriggan garda station.
